Project Details:

Client: CrossFit Black Bear, Maine, USA

Date: October/November 2016

Style: Professional Business Website

Visit site: CrossFitBlackBear.com

Theme: Divi by Elegant Themes

Child Theme: Anthem by BeSuperfly.com

The original site for CrossFit Black Bear was built using Wix. Very little additional content was needed as the original Wix site was very well done. Our brief was to transfer to WordPress and create a mobile responsive, fresh, modern parallax website, ensuring easy user navigation and strong calls to action throughout.

We recreated all pages and Blog posts using Divi and integrated a third party booking system using the Code module for a seamless conversion. All pages were initially laid up using professional stock photography, but this inspired Josh and Lauren to supply their own hero images and photos for use instead, and we think they turned out really well!

Using the Anthem child theme as a base we created a custom Blog Post layout template, a custom Sales page for their Bootcamp Program, and integrated Mailchimp and Bloom plugin for the sidebar optin. We used AC Shortcodes plugin to create the FB Comments Toggle, plus some great Related Posts and Social Sharing plugins to ensure all the required elements of a Blog were included.

Project Feature: Website Redesign

We had already started a custom design for CrossFit Black Bear when the Anthem child theme was released. With a huge variety of sections to mix and match for page layouts I knew this would be a great base starting point from which to create customized and unique pages using gorgeous styling and web animations.

We ended up deactivating a lot of pre-configured animations because not every potential visitor is running the latest software or using the latest web browsers. We discovered that older versions of both did not always render the layouts correctly. It is important to ensure as many visitors as possible can view your site correctly, no matter what device or computer they are using. We test our sites extensively across all devices, from the smallest mobile to huge TV screen resolutions, to ensure the optimal user experience.

We also chose new fonts for the headers, quotes and body text that were more in line with their current logo and Gym branding. We originally used stock photography to showcase their services, but this inspired Josh and Lauren to shoot photos similar to the ones I chose, but of their own Gym and members. The level of commitment from them both was amazing, it’s no mean feat to get so many great shots and we think they really add that extra wow factor throughout.
