Celebrant Sarah Valentine
Auckland Wedding Celebrant
It’s always flattering when friends or family ask us to create a website for them, I know the usual saying is ‘never work with friends of family’ but sometimes knowing someone really well can help us craft the perfect site.
Sarah is my sister-in-law and is a certified marriage and civil-union celebrant in Auckland. Sarah had created a Wix website and added her content already, so it was a case of taking what she needed to convey to prospective clients and a private area for booked clients, and adding some design that reflects who she is.
Using the Divi theme we created the style guide first then settled on the images style throughout. Once those were finalised we created the sections and added some of the new Section Dividers throughout.
For the header image we really wanted to implement parallax scrolling but the new background image overlay options would not allow this. Instead we installed Divi Background Plus plugin which allows overlays whilst enabling parallax scroll, something not yet native to Divi.
The feedback from most users of this Divi Facebook Group was fantastic too, so we’re pretty happy with how this project came together.
“Wow wow wow!!!
Thank you so much. I am so grateful to have such wonderful website designer. I really love the site and really appreciate how much you put into it. It just looks amazing.”
Project Feature: Defining a Style Guide
One of the very first tasks we do during the discovery stage is to define the Style Guide for each website project. This covers typography, colour palette, button and links styling, imagery styles, and of course creating image PSD templates for various image modules and backgrounds to ensure consistency across the website.
Once the style guide is completed we edit the Theme Customizer settings to reflect these styles, and all other styling is added via CSS to the child theme for easy editing.
Starting your web design project with a style guide and clear guidelines in place first saves us (and therefore you) a ton of time going back and editing page by page.
Project Feature: Divi Timeline Module
The Divi Timeline Module plugin by Sean Barton is a great little plugin you can use to easily create a beautiful timeline on your Divi website.
Whether you’re presenting a step by step item, showing chronological data or just featuring some interesting content, a timeline can be the right layout of choice. This plugin offers a couple of modules module which do just that.
